Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 5, 2012 Root Admin Posted January 5, 2012 If you go- report back. Don't hold anything back... I didn't.
bigredbirdfan Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 This has turned into a very informative thread. I like the lower part of taneycomo bc you don't see many boats. I just never seemed to get into many fish down there and when I did it was always trolling. I did want to bass fish down there in the summer but just never got around to it.
Members fishbobber Posted January 5, 2012 Members Posted January 5, 2012 Now we are cooking with peanut oil!! At least I know I am not the only one that looks at this thread. I like to fish the Gold Mine area. The bluff above the cable seems to always be good for a limit of trout just tossing a jig or spinner. It might take trying a few different colors but they are there.
Gatorjet Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I guess with the low number of posts already, it would be useless, but I'd like to see Taneycomo covered in three, or maybe four threads. Lower: From Powersite to Rockaway Beach. Middle: Rockaway to Branson. Upper: Branson to Table Rock. Or maybe just to Fall Creek with the trophy area being the fourth. Just dreaming though. With few threads about the area now designated as lower Taneycomo, and almost nothing from Powersite to Rockaway it would probably just be wasted space. Real men go propless!
Members Big Mike Posted January 6, 2012 Members Posted January 6, 2012 Just now remembered my password so I will start posting reports on here about the lower tany. I have not had a chance to go since october but will be heading that way tomorrow morning. Those darn deer have been keeping me too busy to fish. I would love to see more activity on this forum about lower tany. I fish out of a pontoon so I mainly fish around empire park and about as far as I like to go is the landing. Not sure if I could make it up any farther. I have always done well fishing around the dam area so not sure why more people do not fish this part of the lake. I am taking the kids out tomorrow and putting in at empire park. I will post a report later.
duckydoty Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Saw a lot of fellas fishing around the Rockaway beach docks yesterday and they were catching losts of fish. I was busy looking for a duck. Did not find too many A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners

Also, when is the James River(Walnut Springs)White Bass run? Thanks Never tried for whites up bull creek. Always went to Swan or Beaver Creek. I start fishing for the whites around the middle of March on the James. Usually best around the 1st week of April A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Wayne SW/MO Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I haven't heard of any nor seen any action that would give it away. The most consistant area is below powersite. The creeks don't see action as soon and are more prone to blowouts. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Not sure if I could make it up any farther. This is the Lower Taney tread, but if you'll pardon me please with just a FYI. You wouldn't have any trouble with your 'toon all the way to Fall Creek. Some changes since the floods, but a lot of places are actually deeper. Keep to the bluff, or steep bank side and you'll be OK. Great ramp at Cooper Creek to launch, and you don't have to go for for good fishing. OK, back to the OT. How does the size of trout run on the far lower end of the lake? Real men go propless!
