Members buffresources Posted March 9, 2012 Members Posted March 9, 2012 Just remember if you buy a used anything and put a trolling motor on it in Missouri you have to have the boat licensed....yes, thats' right...when you put a motor on it has to have a Missouri sticker/lic...if you don't "motorize" you don't have to. That goes for any size boat according to the regs. I had a friend who used a trol motor on his small paddler and got caught...cost him $250. Oh, and by the way, unless you buy used from a non-title state like Kansas you must have a valid title...no exceptions to this one. So if the Missouri seller says all all you need is this Bill of Sale you will end up selling it as a untitled boat to somebody. pers exp...several times!
DaddyO Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I seem to remember somebody putting outriggers on a Kayak and putting the Trolling Motor on one of the outriggers. DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I seem to remember somebody putting outriggers on a Kayak and putting the Trolling Motor on one of the outriggers. I believe Essox Niger has done that. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
ollie Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I saw a slick kayak with a trolling motor on Elk once. The yak was either a 10 or 12 footer and he custom mounted a trolling motor to the back of it. Battery was behind him underneath since he was in a sit in. He just kept the motor locked in a forward position and steered with his paddle. He never had to reach behind him for any control, it was all done with the paddle. I must say what took me at least 30 minutes to go upstream a mile or two only took him like 5-10 minutes probably. Not to mention he wasn't tired! MoSportsmen Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 If I had my choice in a small do it all boat light to tow I would go with a flat back canoe. I used a 15 ft flat back canoe with a 5 hp outboard on the back and a troling motor mounted on front on a trailer for years till I got more. Took me a lot of places. Easy to paddle too if you want to go motorless sometimes. Just my .02 cents. Tom Messing about in boats
