Thanks guys, it was a great fish!

Stockers that everyone were catching seemed to the be the normal 12-14" that they dump out in the park.

I guess only the wild fish are smart enough to grow to the stature of 26" huh? ;)

Actually several lunkers are stocked at Busch lakes each winter just all of the folks there don't release them so unless you are there or have a nighbor or friend that witness them it just don't get reported. My grandson caught one last year and released it at 21.

Yeah Thom. It's obvious that all of the fish in there are stocked. I was just pointing out the irony of the original posters statement (in bold) in which he labeled only the 12-14" fish as stockers when all of the fish are stockers. I guess my sarcasm was lost in the post. My apologies.

I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted.

My brother and fished 21 for a couple of hours Sunday, 3 fish landed, one big enough to put up a bit of a fight. I need to remember to bring a heavier rod, I could hardly reach any of the fish with a 5wt.

I have fished 21 and 28 so far this year. Since they are the only catch and release, I'll probably fish them the whole season. I usually catch fish using trout worms under a float on windy days and small jigs or trout magnets on calmer days. Haven't caught any big ones yet but lost one that had to be five pounds. I'm also getting a fly rod soon so hopefully I can get a few on that.

I lost one on lake 22 today, that close to literally slipped out of my fingers. I was throwing a roostertail for a while, and finally this particular time I had a group of 6 or so of them follow it on the way back. I thought I was out of luck the moment they got close enough for me to spot them, but oddly enough, one of them decided to go for it at that moment and snatched it, and I got to reeling it in the remaining 4-5 yards to shore, didn't want to give it a chance to unhook. I lift the rod up to get it out of the water, and grab the line, and it gets off the hook and drops to the ground. I rush to grab it just slow enough not to slip down the incline into the water and it swims off the gravel into deeper water literally as I'm reaching around it.

Anyone know if there is any open water? Lakes were getting ice covered last week and the temps haven't gotten any warmer.

I was there yesterday and there was very little open water. Saw a guy on 22 with a long limb trying to break some of the ice by the dam and it didn't look like he had much success.
