BilletHead Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Leaving them alone today, 19 degrees here in Vernon County. My shallow ponds will be icy and besides this is jerky day. Pat and I will be out in the morning on her day off. I left the geese alone yesterday but did get set up early enough for the daylight duck flight. Managed three gadwall and two ringneck. should of had my sixth bird, no excuses I missed. I remember now why I dislike ringers. Hard to get the skin off the breast. I did leave the skin on the gadwall as I want to try to sear them and would like the crispy skin. wish me luck. duckydoty Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 It was slow for me yesterday. Just one goose on Table Rock. Hunting lower Taney right now. Seen a fee birds. Had one chance at a small flock of gaddy's and missed. Not much else happening. Sun sure does feel good. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Feathers and Fins Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Nice ringer he has the bill features im looking for, for my next mount. been slow here as well tons of stupid geese but not the duck numbers i was hoping for. Maybe this Canadian front comming will finally push in the birds. My taxidermist needs to be kept busy, i just droped off a lesser scaulp to him and I need a ringer, redhead and canvasback for my diver collection to be finished off. Thinking its almost time to go start looking for wood ducks for late season mount potential as well lol. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

BilletHead Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 Thanks for the comments guys, I am a small operation here. Some of your posts get me real excited. Bird watcher your talk and photos of field hunting ducks is neat. Someday I will get the chance in a field I hope. Feathers and duckys hunting open water when I am froze up. I did a spin around the block early and the small ponds had a sheet of ice on them this morning. The bigger ones are ok and with the warm day today and big South wind tomorrow will help. On a good note I have picked a place to take my Bride in the morning. Checked the jerky and it is looking goooooood! I will send birds your way fellows, I forgot to say it was 19 here this morning, checked a weather map and it was warmer in places in Minnesota. duckydoty Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 It was 21 on Taney this morning. Had a few more birds look from a distance and two geese make a couple of passes at high altitude. Saw a total of about 35 ducks this morning. Nice morning to be out and no one else was on the water???? Blue Bird! A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Bird Watcher Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 3 BATTERIES for a cheap ryobi skill saw and you will be ice free in no time chainsaw is way quicker. Dad and I opened up this hole in less than 10 minutes. It was about 20' x 30'. It's still a little sloppy though. The trick is to leave the edges of the hole smooth. You don't want any chunks around the edge. Stick the bar on the underside of the ice and hold on! It pulls you along as it cuts! ICE2 Hey Billethead, we should get together and do that sometime. Here's some dry ground ducks from last year. I don't know what it will be like this year, seems like it's different every year, but last year was stellar. kk snow ducks
