Quillback Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I ain't watching the so called "National Championship" this year. I already watched LSU vs Alabama and it was a lousy game, unless you like watching low scoring defensive struggles. What if Bama wins this one? Should we then have another game to make it best out of three is the national champ? Screw this crap, I'm boycotting this one.
stlfisher Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I found this atricle today. It appears the plus one model is being given serious consideration. I hope it happens. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/andy_staples/12/07/img-forum-plus-one-ncaa/index.html?eref=si_writers
Feathers and Fins Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Very interesting and thought out article. Alot to think about there and a lot of potentials could happen. Heck this might be far reaching but if schools managed to get the BCS dropped and then decided to drop the NCAA and come up with a reality based set of rules and penalties the possibilities could be very interesting. Just thinking out loud mind you https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Wayne SW/MO Posted December 8, 2011 Author Posted December 8, 2011 I would love to see that if they would scrap the opinion polls and go with the computer, which has no area, conference or wild guessing ranking by humans. I would like to see them carry it further and make the bowls take odd against even ranking starting with number 5. The end rankings should then be loser right behind the winner. Trout Commander Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I don't see why they wouldn't want to add the plus one with all of the extra money to be made from two more marque games. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
Wayne SW/MO Posted December 8, 2011 Author Posted December 8, 2011 I don't see why they wouldn't want to add the plus one with all of the extra money to be made from two more marque games. It would just be one more game J, the final. It would pit the first four against each other rather than the bowls matching 3 and 4 up with whoever they want. This year it would have been LSU vs OSU and Alabama against K State. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Justin Spencer Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 This year it would have been LSU vs OSU and Alabama against K State. Wouldn't you play #1 LSU vs. #4 Stanford, and #2 Albama against #3 OSU. That's how most seedings would go and would let the two questionable teams battle it out for the right to play LSU most likely. Wayne SW/MO Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 Justin I was speculating using the computer only and I did match them wrong, if they were straight up. I would hope though they would match them up to avoid any who had already met until the final. If I'm not mistaken the computer has them LSU, OSU, Alabama and K State. Feathers and Fins Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 I still do not like the idea of a computer doing anything. Needs to be a simple system each conferance plays for their champion, each champion then plays in the playoffs till you are left with two teams they play for all the marbles. Then its settled we have #1. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

Gothcha, I think the BCS has done better than the computers only option, because although K-State is my favorite college football team (after the Gorillas of course) they are not the 4th best team. I think the current system does a good job, but it can't be perfect so the +1 option using the current system should at least get the best 2 teams a chance at the championship each year. Some years the 2 best might meet in the semi-final game but that happens in all playoffs from time to time. BCS has K-State at #8.
