Looking for some information on camping at Montuak during the winter. I was go to head down there some random weekend and do some winter camping. On thier site they say they shut down the bathhouses, so does that mean you either go in the woods or at the lodge? Also fishing is from 8-4 Friday thru Monday, is this correct? Just wanting to cover my bases before I take a 3 hr drive. Thanks in advance. Take care and good luck fishin!!

There is a vault toilet near the bathhouse in Loop 4, or use the lodge if you need to make a deposit....Fishing is 8-4 Friday-Monday..Have fun.

The lodge is open during the day. There is a toilet open near the hatchery building that is heated at the upper end of the park or pit toilets at the lower campground. Electric, no water at the sites. No showers.

I usually camp at the Tarry Inn in Licking during the off season, I am a puss in cold weather and need a hot shower and warm bed.

How much are the rooms there?

Last winter was around $45. Free Wifi, clean, hot showers, nice people. They fill up around opening day and deer season. Most other times they have plenty of rooms.

Thats not a bad price at all, and it does beat lugging all of your camping gear down there. in 10 degree weather. It is very tempting to stay there instead of tent camping. Thanks for the advice.

Crap, now it will be booked solid the next time I need to go... :glare:

I came to that conclusion years ago when the now x better half complained about having to squat on a pit toilet in 20 degree blast. Now, the bones feel better in the morning after a warm bed and a hot shower before I face a day of brutal cold temps.

Call them up, I am sure they will love the business. There is the Ranch Motel in Salem also. There are better class motels in both Salem and Licking if you need higher star lodging.

Thanks for the suggestion as well, it is something I will definitely look into.

Hey. Why not just stay at the motel in the park? You wont have an hr of driving. I believe they keep 9 units open(will open more if needed) and 14 cabins are open.
