Members Hillbilly Deluxe
I'm working on an editorial project to identify historic and significant bait & tackle shops of interest still operating. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I am documenting shops across the country, but have special inetrest in Ozark shops. A significant amount of my focus is on older shops that have stood the test of time.... and look like a time capsule from days gone by (similar to the dying breed of old general stores, some of which are still operating in the Ozarks). Thanks in advance for suggestions! KCRIVERRAT
Tim's Fly Shop down at Roaring River would be a great place to start. Also, how about the Gilbert General Store down on the Buffalo... HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
Flysmallie
Also, how about the Gilbert General Store down on the Buffalo... Not sure that would be considered a bait shop but it is a super cool old store.

hoglaw
I have no idea how long custom lure in Fayetteville has been around, but the owner and his wife are there every day and have a combined age approaching 160. He builds some nice baits.
exiledguide
Paul's in St.Louis, Della's in St.Louis, Hank's in Waterloo, Iowa but the absolute neatest OLD bait and tackle shop that I have ever been in is Dohziers Rainbow Landing on Lake Catherine at Hot Springs Arkansas just down lake from the Carpenter Dam bridge on maybe the best mile of walleye, rainbow trout, striper and largemouth bass water I have ever fished. It has a new owner since I moved back to Missouri in '97 bot Mr Dohzier would put you on Rainbow Trout beyyer than anyone I've bought from but the biggest attraction was the memorabila in cases and hanging on the wall from tackle companies going back in the case of trolling motors to the first year of manufactureing. KCRIVERRAT
Used to be a place around Aldrich down around Stockton Lake called the "Master-Baiter". I remember seeing the name of the place painted on top of the roof coming down a county road from the top of a hill. Don't know who started it and I DOUBT it's still open, but it was an old place. Anyone remember the place? HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
