fishinwrench Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 If I didn't think Holschlag was a douchebag I'd compliment you on that crackhea....Ooops, I mean Blockhead ! Nice work, seriously. I just can't look at one of those without wanting to slap the next bearded beanpole I see.
fishinwrench Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Here's my first, and last Hula Popper. These are a pain in the butt and I'd feel sorry for anyone tying them commercially. If I did them to sell they'd be almost 100 bucks apiece.

BackCastingGolfer Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 I've been playing around with these. One idea I'm wanting to try out is putting a little piece of foam on the tail to keep the tail up when sitting still. In this pic the top has a foam tail, the bottom is marabou.
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Look up the Texas Ringworm. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

It is best to weigh them while they are in the water. The only really large one I ever caught got away with my leader when I first struck him. He weighed ten pounds. —Charles Dudley Warner

Those look good and they work well. The little piece of foam on the end works well too. Â Â
Trout Commander Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Did someone say fly rod Jig n' Pig? Wrench has me hooked on Sili Legs. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 http://coloradoflyfi...ly-step-by.html this one? cuz this looks awesome That would be it. If I ever get caught up on Clousers and such I'm going to tackle them. They're looking good Bass Commander. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
stlfisher Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 That's a very interesting looking version of the standard bass fisherman's jig n' pig, Stlfish. Looks like it should work well. Is it hard to cast on a fly rod? Do you put any weight in it to get it down? Years ago, some guys used Uncle Josh fly rod strips for bass, which might also work well for the tail on this jig/fly. Ron that was wrench's fly. I am not that creative yet:)
