I have been hearing good things about using a jig right now. Can anyone tell me where the best places are to use one right now? All i have been doing is throwing a wart all day but I hear the bigger fish are coming with a jig. What size, color and presentation is best right now? Thanks for any input.

Heard about the first jig bite yesterday. Several big bags came in on the jig. Also some huge bags on a spoon. Most of the jig bite reported was on a dock bite early.

Most everything right now is either on a vertical grub, Ice Minnow, spoon. Most fish are suspended or coming off the bottom in 55 to 70 ft. Got a report yesterday of several great catches at these depths over most of the lake. Big Creek, Dam area, and Kimberling City.

However a jig is never really in bad taste. 5/16 3/8 and 1/2 ozer. flipped in dock stalls Natural colors. Eakins and Pig Sticker is what I heard. Natural Craw trailers with pinchers.

Surface temps are in the 47 to 52 degree range lake wide and seem be the same at depth.

Spooning or catching fish as they rise in the water column on sunny days on a sticker is usually the deal right now, and that is also working..

Good Luck

Is this something that happens ever year with the dock bite? Why r they around docks right now? Are they just hanging out near shallower water because it is too warm to suspend? I am trying to learn fall-winter patterns so pardon any foolish questions. I am trying to self teach myself how to be a better fisherman. My friends are not fond of cold weather fishing, so I go it alone this time of year. Thanks for your time and input. One of these days I would love to go on a guide trip. I just want to learn a little more so I can ask the right questions when I do go.

Might be wrong, but I didn't notice that Bill's report mentioned shallow docks. Kind of had the idea some of the fish stay in the big deep docks all winter, especially the brown ones. Brown fish that is.

Guys I put in yesterday at Indian and fished all over the place.. down towards the dam back up towards Kimberling. Big and Little Indian could only manage 2 short K's. It was very tough for me.. I used a spoon and tried finding shad and thats what I caught the 2 shorts on. I missed a good bite slow rolling a swim jig in 25 fow by a dock. I also tried throwing a Mcstick and a grub with no success.
