laker67 Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Pointe Royale was a lot better looking with cows gazing by the shore. People used to camp on the river bank below where those cows grazed. On nights with a east wind, you could hear those cows chewing grass as far up as the big hole. The good old days, when rainbows were huge and crowds were non existent.
rainbow Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 My first trip there was 1973 and there were very few houses on the upper end also very few boats. We rented a jon boat from the old Roark Creek Resort and put my 5hp Sears motor on it. Took forever to get up as far as Lilley's. I still have the flat fish lure I bought for that trip and still use it once in a while. We did catch some nice ones in those days.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Flatfish still catch fish too! Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
rainbow Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 We fished them on a drift rig and it worked great then and now.
barredrock Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Guys, I have stayed with Daphne. Great place, can hit the river with no boat or need for a car at any time. Clean and reasonable. Great hostess and full kitchens, pool and hot tub for wife and kids

drew03cmc Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 This kind of tweaks me wrong. Two posts and both are advertisements. If it has been cleared with management, I guess it's no big deal, but it just irritates me. If you have nothing fishing or hunting related to contribute to this fishing forum, please post the advertisements in the Lodging post down the forum index. Thank you. Andy
Brian K. Shaffer Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 yea.. this kinda looks like taking advantage of the situation a little.... Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
