eric1978
You can put in boats at Simpson Park, Unger Park, and Creve Couer. All allow electric motors too... Yeah, but those lakes suck.
WHARFRAT
Prairie Lake is low right now, that's why it looks like they cut vegatation around it. You can walk a boat in at Unger, you can't launch. Don't knock Simpson, I've caught some decent fish there, from crappie, bass, and sauger. Never fished Unger, but people tell me they catch crappie there. The same story for Creve Couer. Took my dog for a walk one time and saw some guy catching keeper size crappie out of one of the creeks at Creve Coeur Lake real close to the bridge. He was fishing from the bank. I know you can launch a boat there also. Does anybody know anything about Klondyke Lake just west of Weldon Springs? @lozcrappie
Thom
If you are talking about kolondike by Katy trail the big lake there is full of fish catch and release. I caught a nice 4# largemouth there off the bridge and you can catch bluegil off the bridge forever. The trick is to get the bait down fast enough to get by the 3 inchers at the top and down where the large gills are hiding under logs and under the bridge in the shade. Lots of fun though for younguns that just want to catch something. Use very small hooks with long shank like a cricket hook and cover it with a short piece of crawler. small jigs also will catch bass and gills. Micros in green, white, yellow/blk etc 1/250 to 1/80. Haris122
Never fished Unger, but people tell me they catch crappie there. I've fished it, and hooked something there several times. But never actually succeeded in reeling it in and finding out what it is. One at least felt like it was pretty big though. Have seen a lot of activity with fish jumping in the water there, during the summer months but couldn't say exactly what kind they were. I do know they got some good 2-3 foot Bighead or Silver Carp in there, cause I've seen several of them on the shore dead this winter.
WHARFRAT
walked about half way around Prairie Lake yesterday. Lake is really low. They've cut a lot of trees down on the dam area and the brush has fallen into the lake. I fished all around the bruch piles and nothing. Ran over to Busch's, lake 33, managed a few small crappie. Went by lake 35 on way out. I was there 5/6 weeks ago and it was really low, looks like it's filled up again. Didn't fish it, just wanted to see how it was. @lozcrappie
Bill Jr.
you can say what you want about Creve Coeur but you can catch fish there. Both the main lake and Mallard lake that is attached. You might want to give it a chance. I've caught a bunch over 4# up to 6# in the last 2 years. you do have to walk a bit but being close I love being able to go down for a couple hours. here are a couple pics I took in June of 09 when i found the place. I may not have attached correctly. Haven't taken a bunch of pics since but still catching them.
Members pmed88
I have been fishing Creve Coeur Lake at least once a week for about 7 months and only caught 8 small bass. I usually stay on the back side of the lake, opposite the beach. I have had pretty good luck with Zoom, baby bass swim baits. Be careful using crank baits and anything that is not weedless. Has anyone had any luck with bass along the walls on the beach side by the boat ramps? I have not made my way over to Mallard lake yet but I keep hearing more good things about it. For anyone else that lives in this area I would recommend staying away from Wilde Acres Lake in Overland until the algae clears from the top. moguy1973
Mallard lake has some crappie in it. I caught one on a spinner bait fishing for bass from my kayak this summer. That lake is FULL of gar though. That's about all I saw in there. Hundreds of 2-3" gar -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
stlfisher
Creve ceour lake is a tough lake for bass...according to the mdc. Not sure why, but small and limited population semm to be the norm. Fountain lakes off 370 have some seriosly nice bass in them. Fish the big one in the middle...a bit if a walk, but less pressure. you catch a ton, but the ones you do will be pretty nice

The bigger lake on the north side of 370 is big enough with such limited bank fishing opportunities that I bet most fish are out in the middle where you can't get to them... -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
