gotmuddy Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 I want to build my own fiberglass riverboat. I have some experience fiberglassing and love building stuff, regardless if its cheaper. My thoughts are 21'x48"x18". I am kicking around the idea of a self bailing deck but I dont know, that would raise the deck quite a bit. I am thinking of making it a partial tunnel hull(3-4" deep, 3ft long). 4-5ft front deck, 3ft rear deck. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Gavin Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Looked into building a boat, but no time for it these days...some good info hear if you hunt around a bit. Good Luck! http://www.duckworksmagazine.com/06/projects/stripper/index.htm http://www.duckworksmagazine.com/04/s/designs/pullon/index.cfm
gotmuddy Posted January 16, 2012 Author Posted January 16, 2012 I am contemplating turning the nose up ever so slightly and adding a very slight v to the front 1/2 of the boat. nothing drastic, 6 degrees or so. My propulsion will likely be my trusty 9.9 mariner or 25hp merc with a jet pump. I want to keep it as light as possible but still keep it stout. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Members Troutguy Posted January 28, 2012 Members Posted January 28, 2012 Got started yet?... I sure want to ride it in June.
taxidermist Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I dont thin the casting deck is going to help. If you are by yourslef and rifting down river, standing ont he deck and snag theboat on a log or rock you are int he water. That alone could be a killer, evenw ith a lifejacket on.

I bet I have drifted 100 miles easy with no problems. When I get close to rough spots I kneel or sit down and pick the trolling motor up. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

Now hold on, he needs that casting deck for all of us to stand on while he's minding the boot. Let's not get crazy now.
