cullinby9 Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 I can definatley agree to disagree....its nice to have a civil debate. I love this sport as well, no aspirations to move up to next level, like my current job too much. I just like to catchem. I think about being able to fish everyday, everyday.
Tfsh4bass Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 I am just excited to roll into some cove this spring and see some guy flipping an A-Rig at a bedding fish Concerning the topic I am fine with the ban and it really should be one bait one rod when fishing for money IMO
Iclass Posted January 24, 2012 Author Posted January 24, 2012 I've actually thought about the prospects of have a rig tied on bed fishing....one live bream, one live crawdad, one mud puppy..... now that would be pushing the limits. The being able to fish everyday, was nice for awhile, then it just got to be too much of a job, and not much fun anymore. I like the compitition of the derby, I guess I'm getting too old to make it my life again. All the travel, fast food, hotels, when you were doing well, or camping in the truck when you weren't. Its for the true dedicated ones for sure.
cullinby9 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Seen this on Dave Lefebre's facebook page this morning. " In a mere two days on erie I caught 83 combos 4 quadruples 49 triples and 30 doubles thats 223 fish on 83 casts unheard of, unatural and unsporting to the max." Dave also started a petition to have the a-rig banned from competition go to his facebook page click on the link ban a-rig.
Iclass Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 I like Rick Clunn's take on the A-rig on his facebook page..... When people start catching fish from toilets, its time to get worried about the A-rig....
Sprint21fter Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I agree with Clunns facebook page as well.
Whack'emGood Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Great Whack'em. Will be there. Talked to Joe this week, as of now A-rig will be allowed. And yes, I will be babysitting Todd. Great. I'll see you down there! I was hoping Joe would ban the A-rig. I guess we need to lobby for it. Whack'em "Success builds confidence, and you have to learn to trust your instincts and forget about fishing the way a tournament is supposed to be won. I'm going to fish my style and make it work for me." -KEVIN VANDAM "Confidence is the best lure in your tackle box." -GERALD SWINDLE "A-Rig? Thanks, but no thanks. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)
smbasser Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 +1 on the ban for tournaments, I've kept my mouth shut on this topic while all this has been going on but I'm all for a tournament ban. I've seen first hand some of the weights that have been coming in during some of these winter tournaments and it just makes me laugh. I'm not looking forward to fishing some of the anglers in action or Joe Bass tournaments and seeing 40-50 boats and everyone throwing the same lure. I just dont see a skill set for casting and winding a rig in that a fish just can't help but commit too. Maybe I'm just a disgruntled fishermen and my opinion doesn't really matter but i don't have a problem throwing the a-rig for recreation. As far as tournaments...........one line, one lure
bobw Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 So this thing is so good, I can sell ALL the other fishing tackle I own and just fish the A Rig and win every tournament I enter? Is that the basis for banning it? Some one has discovered the Holey Grail of Bass Fishing, man, it just got a lot cheaper and a whole lot simpler to bass fish, 1 rod, 5 baits and that is it. Thank you to Mr. Poss, I can now sell all my other tackle and all 15 or 20 of my other rods and fish the A Rig. Who wouldn't be in favor of that? Next year you will go to Bass Pro and they will have 80,000 square feet of nothing but A Rigs. Sure make it nice when your wife asks what are you going to buy at Bass Pro, I guess A Rigs, that all they have any more!
