Billfo Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 On the clear sections of Table Rock Lake, does anyone use anyother color of mono line BESIDES clear ? Any green or hi-vis florescent ? Thanks.. Email me Red-Right-Returning is for quitters !
motoman Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 I use hi-vis yellow/green super line, but with a leader. On other bodies of water, I've experimented with straight hi-vis line; and the fish won't have anything to do with it. Tie on a mono/fluoro leader......and it's back to the fun!
dtrs5kprs Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Fluorocarbon (clear) or green mono (usually Big Game or XT). The old Maxima lo-vis is good also.
Billfo Posted January 22, 2012 Author Posted January 22, 2012 So the green mono doesnt spook the fish.. Interesting.... Email me Red-Right-Returning is for quitters !
RSBreth Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I surprised anyone still uses straight mono... But that's just me. All I use mono for is topwaters...
rps Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I surprised anyone still uses straight mono... But that's just me. All I use mono for is topwaters... I use a green color of YoZuri Hybrid. It is a copolymer mono with a flouro sheath. Best os all worlds.
dtrs5kprs Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I surprised anyone still uses straight mono... But that's just me. All I use mono for is topwaters... Using mono for TW, blades, warts, sometimes sticks. After a few years sort of decided I was getting better bait action on craks with mono. Seems to make the wart back out of rocks better. Think the idea on the green line is that it blends with background colors...wood, dock slime, etc. Green mono is not like green braid.
exiledguide Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I use Hi Vis XL when I fish jigs or grubs or worms, been fishing it since the late 1960s and it catches fish. But as you can see here everyone has their own opinion. I am more of a line watcher than most people but when I throw a topwater crankbait or spinerbait I do use green mono. I don't think there is any one line to use, I feel that for most aplications flouro and braid are not the right lines for me.But the thing for you to do is try the different types of line and use what works best for you.
Billfo Posted January 23, 2012 Author Posted January 23, 2012 Thanks for all the replies. So the conclusion is- greens & high visibility lines do not scare off fish on CLEAR water lakes like Table Rock. Email me Red-Right-Returning is for quitters !
