Went out from point 5 to 7 today. 8am to 1. 6 on the a-rig, best 15lb. Nothing big, but nice time. Couldnt get a taker for the sticker. Bill, used the a-rig first on all spots, then went to the sticker, so maybe I cleaned up the active ones before I gave them a look at the stick bait. First time out with the a-rig. Will be building more as we lost 2 today.

I have been making all of my own A-Rigs ever since I lost ones I greatly overpaid for at the store. You can make these things cheap guys, and they work just as good.

Powerdrive to answer your question I have foul hooked one fish and got him to the boat, I have only had a few hits that I did not land, and very few have been hooked in the side by the other hooks. Today I caught 9 keepers and a handful of shorts and only recall pulling 1 hook out of a fishes side (fish was also hooked in the mouth).

All of my fishing has been done in Ark. so I have been using the standard 5 hook rig.

Managed to land a 20lb or so Striper today on one of my homemade rigs and it held up fine wires werent even bent out of shape which I found very surprising. Made me feel pretty confident my craftsmanship will hold up to any bass fight.

Are you using wire heavier than 0.040?

I have been using 240 lb leader wire, it doesn't say the exact diameter, but it is the same size wire you find in the original rigs, or like on an average spinnerbait.

I have been drilling out a 1/2 egg singer with about a 5/32 drill bit, then bend about 1/2" of each wire into a U. I hook the U onto a snap so I have a clean line tie, and so each wire is directly secured to the line.

It is a snug fit and i have to use pliers but then I force the 5 U's into the egg sinker.

Not sure if any of that made sense? I'll try to upload some pictures of the rig.

Bill, I understand not wanting to make additional keys at $80 each BUT I can tell you that my good friend in AR has a 08' or 09' Avalanche and was able to get a cheap spare key from Wally World and while it won't start the engine it will unlock the doors. He keeps a couple of extra spares in different dry bags when we fish rivers as a back up. FYI I am sure you could do the same thing and use the magnetic holder idea to place one in a safe place under the vehicle. And if it did not work you would only be out a couple of bucks.

In this picture you can see kind of how I have been making my rig.

Nicely done, the fish and the rig.

LL...I have made a few using a 1/2oz spinnerbait mold, just running the wires thru the hook slot, and another up front to form a line tie. Looks ok, have not had a chance to test it yet.
