Trout Commander Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Nice! Was the musky on the fly? I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
Smalliebigs Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Sometimes it's pretty easy to catch Muskie in that spillway/creek.....they are stuck there
exiledguide Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Great photos, If ether of my daughters had stayed in the St Louis area after they married I probably would have retired some place in southern Illinois most of my adult life was fishing strip mines around Milstadt Belleville area/great fishing cose to St Louis. Thanks for posting
exiledguide Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I love southern IL for the diversity of fish species that I can target. Everything from bass, crappie and cats to walleye, trout and muskies. Not enough smallies though. Yep I should have said I fished the strip pits until the Smallie season opened in MO then Ispent most of the summer on the Cator or the Big Piney eventualy bought land on the Big Piney at Houston Mo that didn't work out for retirement. That area around Millstadt had more than one strip mine were i was able to catch Bass up to 7+ lbs and in the sprig spawn get a bucket of 10 to 12" bluegill every year until developers bought the land and developd it. I think that southern Illinois is almost as good of fishing as Central Arkansas with the smallmouth in AR being the deciding factor.
