Members CVHoss Posted February 16, 2012 Members Posted February 16, 2012 Hi All. My name is Randy and I live in SE Kansas. The screen name (CVHoss) comes from spending the last 14 years involved in Cowboy Action Shooting and my shooting alias is Coal Valley Hoss. Haven't fished seriously since 1998. We used to go fishing/boating a lot as a family but when my Son's wife passed away leaving him with two small children, the family dynamic kind of changed and going to the lake went to the back burner. The oldest of those two small children just turned 18 and he loves to fish so I decided to get the boat put back in shape so I could spend some time with him. My boat is a Charger 195, single console, 200hp EFI Merc. that I bought new in 1996. Boat was last used in October of 1998. Unfortunately, sometime last summer, pack rats got under the cover and went to work on destroying all of the electrical wiring. Boat is now in the shop getting somewhere between $3200-$4000 in work rewiring, new batteries, water pump, electronic fuel pump (wasn't expecting that one) and whatever else it takes to make it lake-ready again. I was really grateful to find this web site as I consider Stockton our "home" lake though I've also done a lot of fishing on Truman. Have also fished Table Rock, Lake of the Ozarks and Pomme De Tere. Been getting all of my fishing equipment back into shape organizing, reorganizing, restringing reels, and replacing equipment that the rats ate. Anyway, glad to meet all of you and looking forward to learning a lot and hopefully being able to contribute something once the boat is back together and I can start hitting the lake again. Randy
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Welcome Randy! Good luck on the forums. Good luck with the fish. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. (me) I am the master of my unspoken words, and the slave to those that should have remained unsaid. (unknown)
ness Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Welcome. A good friend of mine does the Cowboy Action Shooting thing too. Goes by the name of Osage Jack. Know him? John
ness Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 ...actually he's in SASS. Not sure if that's the exact same thing. Also -- good on you for taking those kids under your wing. Kinda makes some of the nonsense we end up talking about on here seem even less important. Ask away -- there's a lot of good info to be had here. John
Members CVHoss Posted February 17, 2012 Author Members Posted February 17, 2012 John, I think I remember the name Osage Jack but it's been a long time. I checked my annual registrations back to 2006 but didn't find him. It sticks in my head that he may have shot with us when we had our club in Pittsburg. Yup, SASS is actually the main sanctioning body for Cowboy Action Shooting. Thanks for the welcome and looking forward to the exchanges of information. Called the dealership that's working on my boat thinking it would be almost done and they haven't even started on it yet. Said they're planning on starting next week. If not, may have to look elsewhere as these 50 & 60 degree days are sure getting me anxious. Randy
