txspecks04 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Thanks for the reply rps. I will likely be fly fishing and wading so the trout regs and boat issues won't bother me...I probably end up somewhere in between Parker and Houseman.
Bird Watcher Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Fished the flats at Holiday Island Today. Two Keeper walleye and 3 jumbo blue gill. 12-16 fow drifting road runners with crawlers along the inside bend of the flats where they drop into the channel. Water temp was 49.1-50.3 Speed needed to be kind of quick, about 1.5 to 2 mph to get bit which was made easy with all the wind.
Quillback Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Me and Jeb launched out of Houseman first thing in the AM yesterday, fished up and down river, throwing various artificials and never had a single bite. They really started running the river water starting about an hour after we got there, I don't know if that is good or bad for the bite, but it was really running. Weather was cold, windy, and sunny, probably not the best day to go walleye fishing. About 0930 we trailered up the boat and headed over to Beaver, Indian creek arm to bass fish, and wouldn't you know it, Jeb caught a nice 23" walleye on a jig. Seems we catch more walleye when we're bass fishing than we do when we target walleye.
Martin Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Caught 2 today on bottom bouncer and live bait....Between Beavertown & Housemann......Fished about 4 hours. Both eys were 17 inchers, so they are back in the lake.....Man, it was WINDY !
Martin Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Quick clarification....I caught One short walley and my friend caught one short walleye.....Both right at 17 inches. Fat & healthy.....He worked alot harder then I did as he was running the trolling motor in the wind.....Thanks again Scott !
