Arkansas Does Not Have A New State Record Bass

I have never received a renewal notice and neither has my wife. My fishing buddy who lives out of state has not either. So you guys must be special for the AGFC to send you a notice.

Anyway over the weekend I heard the story about the record bass being confiscatied.

The man was fishing in a state park, Village Creek State Park, near Wynne. The ARGFC was going to pay for a mold of the fish to be made and ten replicas. The fisherman thinking he was going to make thousands of dollars from the replicas got mad and told the AGFC he wanted another taxidermy shop todo the fish. The other shop is not known for mounting good fish (This is from the shop owner who told me the story) anyway. the angler got mad and threatened the AGFC with a law suite. Thats when the AGFC checked and found the man had bought a license over 3 hours after catching the fish.

A Warden then went and wrote the angler a ticket, which can cost him up to $1,000. dollars and 30 days in the pokey.

The AGFC was at the fish taxidermist place of business to confiscate the record fish at 09:30 Sunday morning.

Just like everyone when I heard the story of him catfishing with a caronlina rig and a MANNS Jelly Worm. I thought it sounded hokey..

I can relate to bass fishing while catfishing, if I do any live bait fishing for catfish or stripers I get bored and have to pick up a bass rod and cast something instead of sitting and watching a rod tip. I will also drag a big worm while drifting or working a bank with the trolling motor with the rod laying on the deck and my foot on the rood and have lost a rod doing that...

I purchase my Ark license online every year and receive email reminders when it is due. I actually worked my Ark license to the end of Feb so I just get both the same week every year now.

I have an Arkansas fishing license live in Arkansas and do not receive reminders. My guess is they are either for out of staters, or people that purchase throught the mail, phone, or online. Regardless, it would be easy to forget.

To call him a poacher is a joke.

Should he have bought a license? Yes. Is he a bad guy? maybe, but not because he went fishing without a license.

Awsome fish, I am envious.
