As far as curly tail grubs and the small slider minnows on jig heads, what's your technique on those. I typically do a simple cast and slow to moderate retreive and never get too far with them.

I'm a little more active in my retrieve on curly tails. I try a bottom bouncing with them or a random jigging/twitching with a moderate retrieve for suspended crappie. If I'm feeling lazy, I'll use the old jig 'n float method. I stick to a few main colors: white, silver/gray with glitter, chartreuse, and electric chicken. I also started carrying ultra minnow style jig heads. I don't know if they catch more fish, but I like 'em.

I only read these topics until I get to "umbrella rig" or "A-rig", then I have to go out to my warehouse and release some aggression. I won't get started, but I can't wait until this trash goes away.

What's the expression about wishing in one hand? It won't hurt my feeling if they make A rigs illegal, but I'll fish them up until they make them illegal.

Amen. I guess that make us "old skool."

I prefer to fish the swimming minnows with a twitch and reel approach, twitch 2-3 times and reel in the slack. I've had pretty good luck on days they are biting. I was looking for the sliders yesterday and could only find the shorter crappie sliders and I couldn't find any in purple or white/chart like I was looking for. I know I talked with one gentleman down there last year that was using the bigger bass sliders in white/chart and he was doing well. I normally throw a 1/16oz jighead. I've been having trouble finding a good jighead with a longer shank and wider gap.

Do you guys pay any attention to the color of the jig head? Any specific style of jighead or brand that you prefer?

I think a rigs are great. Get ya one, you may like em; most of the folks that don't like them and think badly of them have never thrown one. It isn't a every fish that sees it must bite it deal. In the right situation they will catch fish better than anything else, but after 6 months of throwing it, there are times when it just doesn't work. I threw the thing in schooling whites last night and didn't get bit. I did however catch some on a small spinnerbait????

Another vote for swimming minnows.

yeehaw, I'd say you have the right baits but are you using the right line? 6lb fluorocarbon will get you a lot of bites.

over the years I've noticed white bass can shy away from fluorescent lines at times.

I caught about 18 slab Whites last weekend in on main channel bluffs in 20-25 FOW trolling the Umbrella Rig. I was using 65# braid. I was targeting LM but the whites started biting and just didn't stop...made about 8 to 10 passes up the exact same 500yd bluff over the course of 3 or 4 hours and just slayed them. I had a blast using the A Rig..(this was my first time out with it.) I had one double which was really cool and caught a monster 19" white as well. Also caught 3 or 4 keeper LM and my partner caught a 5lb LM using the "Crappie A rig" Great trip...lots of fun...all LM were released..all Whites were given a hot grease bath later that night.

Great. Another thread hijacked by the Alabama Rig.

Sorry to hijack the thread that was not my intention. I was just commenting about how the one person said they like to use 6lb clear test for whites so I thought it valid to mention that I went out for LM and caught a TON of whiteson 65LB braid and had a complete blast and it was very fun. Sorry to make someone angry..I guess having fun is not what fishing is about anymore?
