Never heard that about upland sycamores, but remember a friend telling me about finding a bunch around a sycamore a few years ago which I found odd, looking forward to trying that this year. Ash trees seem to be a guaranteed mushroom or two around here, but also find them around newly dead trees, as well as around ground that has been disturbed and roots exposed if it is in or along a woods edge.

When I was a kid I was always told to find dead elms, especialy on the ground. This was north of the river.

Found some more Sunday night in Jasper County. They are little, but they are coming up. This rain should really help things along.

Went out again today in a place that has been good early in the past. Found a few toad stools and some old oysters and fantails.

Looks like the mushrooms are going to be lost in the foilage this year, things are really green around here already. Plum and redbud are blooming, trilliiams and mayapples are out. Ash are making seeds, all about 3 weeks early.
