Gavin Posted March 16, 2012 Author Posted March 16, 2012 They seem to key on certain trees in different areas..Ash, Elm, Maples in most of my spots...sometimes Cottonwood or Sycamore...will have to scout a few upland sycamores this year.
Justin Spencer Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Never heard that about upland sycamores, but remember a friend telling me about finding a bunch around a sycamore a few years ago which I found odd, looking forward to trying that this year. Ash trees seem to be a guaranteed mushroom or two around here, but also find them around newly dead trees, as well as around ground that has been disturbed and roots exposed if it is in or along a woods edge. Wayne SW/MO Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 When I was a kid I was always told to find dead elms, especialy on the ground. This was north of the river. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Bird Watcher Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 went tonight after work in McDonald county and found 27, but they were tiny. The good news is they have started coming up

Bird Watcher Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Found some more Sunday night in Jasper County. They are little, but they are coming up. This rain should really help things along.
Justin Spencer Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Found a few in the campground today while moving picnic tables to higher ground. jdmidwest Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Went out again today in a place that has been good early in the past. Found a few toad stools and some old oysters and fantails. Looks like the mushrooms are going to be lost in the foilage this year, things are really green around here already. Plum and redbud are blooming, trilliiams and mayapples are out. Ash are making seeds, all about 3 weeks early. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
