BilletHead Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 With my camera I remembered the post quite a wile back about our poisonous snakes. Plus every time I see one now Fins and feathers comes to mind. Well today hit the Sac arm of Truman early and made the long ride to the 54 highway bridge looking for fish. Let me say fishing sucked. A few small crappie, some spotted bass, a small hybrid and whites plus a bonus drum. Nice day to be out. A couple of eagle nests with birds on them. Truman has the Sac backed up and there are carp going crazy in some of the edges of flooded fields. OK now to the snake. A nice fat cottonmouth crossing the river at the bluff near coon creek.. Would of liked closer pictures but my fishing buddy is scared badly and wouldn't get me closer. Glad I had the telephoto lens on. He opened his mouth once but I missed the shot. After seeing this one we seen two more nearer the boat ramp, again swimming from the wintering bluffs dens towards the swamp across the river, BilletHead "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" Quillback Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 You should have caught it, put it in a rod tube, and shipped it to F&F! Tell him you're sending him a Loomis GLX that you didn't want anymore, LOL. Great photos BTW.

MoSportsmen Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Ron, You mentioned the way they float higher than a water snake. I have also seen rattlers swimming and they float pretty high also. Wonder if that is kinda a warning sign for poisonous snakes? Kinda like the head shape. Tom Messing about in boats

Tom I think it just makes them easier targets...
