Nick Williams Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 My name is Nick Williams. I live in Owasso, OK and I do primarily bass fishing, but I will pretty much give any kind of fishing a try, though bass is still my favorite. I have recently gotten into fly fishing and fly tying, especially in the winter it helps me get my fishing fix. Just thought it would be cool to join the forum to learn about fishing areas around me and meet some fellow fisherman! - Nick
DaddyO Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Nick, Nice to see a fellow Owassonian on the forum. I live just north of the high school in Barrington Pointe. We'll have to get together and hit a few neighborhood ponds. I've been having fun catching the warm water species lately. PM me for contact info. Nick Williams Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 DaddyO, Nice! We will have to meet up some time! I went out this morning to the Collinsville reservoir, if you know where that is, and I caught a ton of panfish on tiny poppers. Always a blast. - Nick
DaddyO Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Where is the Collinsville Reservoir? I've lived here for 15 years and never heard of it. I even go to church in Collinsville. I hit the Home Depot pond for about an hour tonight before it got dark. Caught lots of Perch. No Bass tonight. DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
Nick Williams Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 It may not actually be the "collinsville reservoir" but that is what I have always called it. I know it used to have water piped in from Oolagah lake or something, and there used to be a water treatment plant next to it. I noticed a couple visits back that they pipes were gone and that the old treatment plant was gone, but I had just assumed a new one was built. It is north of 146th St. and about a mile east of 169. It is back a ways in the trees so you have to know it's there to find it. Nice, what church? My dad used to be the youth pastor at the Nazarene church in Collinsville about 9 years ago, so I am familiar with Collinsville. Nice! I haven't fished there in years, last time I did I am pretty sure Home Depot and all those businesses weren't there! Yeah, seems just a bit early for bass still. - Nick
DaddyO Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Collinsville Church of Christ. I'm one of the song leaders. They may refer to that as the Collinsville City Lake. I know where you are talking about, now. I googled it. I'll have to go out there and try my luck. DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
Nick Williams Posted April 2, 2012 Author Posted April 2, 2012 I went out there twice this weekend and did very well with the panfish and some tiny bass. Let me know how you do/did!! I also saw two very large crappie pulled out this weekend, the lake seems to hold a vast variety of good sized fish. - Nick
DaddyO Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 I noticed the No Swimming and No Wading sign. It looks a little tight to try to cast a fly rod. Does it open up anywhere? DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
Nick Williams Posted April 2, 2012 Author Posted April 2, 2012 Yeah, any kind of boat is prohibited as well, which sucks because a little personal pontoon or kayak or something would be so effective there. Yeah, it is tight in some places. I do use my fly rod but I either am passing parallel to the bank or I am finding a creative way to get my fly out there. There is one side where it is wide open and you can just false cast all you want. For traditional equipment it is a great place to fish. - Nick
