MoSportsmen Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Good advice Seth, point of clarification, I believe the Ipilot is not available in cable steer. I agree though if you want to troll for crappie the Ipilot would be a great thing. I did not know they will hold position too. That could be really cool for a lot of purposes. Members crappiequeen Posted April 5, 2012 Author Members Posted April 5, 2012 great help guys. when we rewire the boat, we WILL put in a circuit breaker compatible to the unit i buy.. When we bought the boat It came hooked up direct to the battery terminal.... Yikes. we were dipping water to cool the battery and wires down. I am checking into the terrova i pilot. sounds awesome! i hate to be broken down at CRAPPIE TIME... fuel pump went out an hour after trolly went up in smoke,,, bad day on the water... ended up fishing from the bank which turned out very good Thanks so much everyone! I will use everyones help to set up a nice new unit "the right way"
Walleyedmike Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Crappiequeen, if money is no object get the Minn Kota Terrova with I-Pilot. You will not be disappointed, it's the cats meow! I have to disagree with fishinwrench, the spot lock works great on mine. If you have the room to add an extra battery, you might consider bumping up to a 24 volt 80 lb thrust. You should be able to troll all day with it, and it's not that much more expensive than the 12 volt 55 lb thrust. WM
Members OnPlane Posted April 8, 2012 Members Posted April 8, 2012 Just a thought and recommendation that you may want to go to Marine Repair Center in Springfield. You can look them up on the web. The fella's there do a great job on any install and have done so on my rig in the past. Don't count out on when looking for marine electronics and trolling motors. Luckily I have not had an issue with my Minn Kota in 10 plus years of heavy use. If I were about to get a new one...Marine Repair Center would be a first stop...Advice, Installation and Service...Good dudes..!!

I ran a Terrova into a submerged tree and managed to break the "unbreakable" shaft. I also messed up the mount a bit. Marine Repair Center did a great job replacing/repairing.
