Tying Video: Galloup's Articulated Barely Legal

The latest in the Galloup series of videos....the Barely Legal. Hope you guys enjoy. I had a little extra time with this one so I showed the articulation process a little slower than usual.

Recipe:

Rear Hook

Hook: Any 3xl streamer hook

Tail: Marabou

Underbody: Estaz Lights UV Wing: Marabou

Wing: Marabou

Under-Wing: Marabou

Front Hook:

Same as the rear hook finished off with a Fish Skull

Another great job...but I'm missing the underwater shots. Angel Hair in a dubbing loop will work in place of the estaz.

Underwater shots are coming back.....I all but have to be up to my neck in water to get them and the winter kind of put that on hold for a little while

Angel Hair in a dubbing loop would be an awesome replacement. Actually, if you did an Angel Hair loop on the back hook and Estaz on the front you would get an even better taper and probably better movement out of the fly. In all seriousness, I am not a big fan of this fly for trout. I typically don't like a "jigging" fly for anything but smallmouth and dink rainbows but I totally see a big brown eating this if you hit him in the face with it.

I hate Eztaz, it's a bite killer for me.

Bite killer?? WHAAT?!?! I could see if you were pounding a bunch of stockers where you were throwing articulated flies to try to catch numbers of fish that a flashy body could slow the bite down on the wrong conditions........but a flashy body is a flashy body if it is estaz or angel hair. I will be the first to stand up and say that the Angel Hair would make a sexier fly in 'my eyes' but a fish isn't going to point and say "that fly has Estaz, and that fly has Angel Hair"......do you think?

Having said that though. I am not a guy that is looking to catch any kind of numbers of fish on streamers, I won't fish to a pod of stocker brown trout on the NFOW with an articulated streamer. I will be pounding banks looking to roll 1 fish....2 if I am crazy lucky and I assure you that the fish we are catching when we do it like this would eat a Snickers bar if it landed in their territory.
