I guess I'm just a tad disappointed by the fact that these records fall when the fish are obviously caught on a bed with a shaky head lure. I know the best time to shoot a big buck is during the rut, but you can't sneak around in the woods until you get within 20 ft of a record buck and shoot it. We have to contend with bass seasons in rivers but lakes have no season. I guess I'm just slightly jealous darn it. LOL

Mitch. That fish and that record have nothing to do with you. It's in Oklahoma. On a lake. He caught it. Bully for him. Your consummate skill on our Ozark streams is still viable and in play.

Seems as if most new records are caught during the spawn activity period. Maybe the old records were caught during that time period as well. Some always look down their nose when people fish spawning bass or trout, but think nothing of going out and killing several limits of spawning crappie, white bass, and walleye. Maybe it doesn't really matter that people fish for spawners because record fish continue to be caught. Congrats to all of the new record holders.

I think lakes are a little different than rivers since there are so many fish, can,t hurt a spawn too much by targeting the ones you can see. May be wrong but seems to hold true.
