Members cal4363 Posted April 20, 2012 Members Posted April 20, 2012 MDC is considering permits and telecheck for paddlefish similar to what we do for deer and turkey. What are your thoughts? Please go to http://mdc.mo.gov/fi...lefish-comments to express your comments.
Gavin Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 If the point is truly to gather data on the number of paddlefish snaggers and paddlefish harvest make it a free permit. It might even help em crack down on the illegal trade in paddlefish eggs. If the point is to raise fees on paddlefish snaggers...thats fine with me too...Its an unsustainable fishery dependent on stocking. Folks might as well pay for the priveledge like trout anglers do.
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Interesting, maybe they could not have a permit, but have an honor system of people submitting the info requested. When you get into permits, it will undoubtedly cost something, then you need to appoint someone to oversee, and that costs something, and then you have more regs to enforce and that costs something........ All in all we are using what is mostly an honor system anyhow, especially with the new hunting permits. I know this is fishing and not hunting, but if telecheck is involved, then it will be a similar process. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction.
