Some great fish you got up at that end of the lake, Bill. I'm going to be fishing that area myself a little more this summer.

My son and I took a ride from Rock Lane to Eagle Rock earlier this year breaking in the boat. It is beautiful up there and I wish I had explored the Roaring River arm a little more. The scenery looked amazing up there but I didn't want to get too far off the beaten path given the gas I was consuming. Anybody fish that arm and have any general reports?

There are no fish in the Roaring River arm. ;)

In all seriousness, the big flat at the mouth will load with spots during the summer - the key is to find the humps and valleys on that flat. The section upstream of the S curve has excellent top water and jig locations.

@ Bill,

Why doesn't that end of the lake hold as large of bass as the dam area? I've heard that said several times...just curious.

trust me i live up on the hill in the very back of roaring river arm opposite side of the waterfall and the quality of fish up here is as good as anywhere on this lake its just a little different fishing also not as many people want to make that kind of run from the dam or kimberling all the way up here i know for sure of two major tourney won within five miles of the eagle rock bridge one being an flw tourney anthony gagliardi (owl creek) and the other being heartland championship marty conrad (hump/island) within view of the ER bridge it just doesnt get the attention that the other parts of the lake get. and i can see why i myself have blanked up here several times but ive also caught my personal best 8.49 between big m marina and owl creek. also i believe gagliardi was swiming a grub in the dead of winter and conrad was fishing a tequila sunrise big worm in the dog days of summer just goes to show its good all year round

It was Brent Ehrler and it was a cold March.

balsabee is right. Sheer volume of water in the Kimberling City area vs up the White River. As I stated I have caught good fish up there, but day in day out you will not catch the quality you will on the lower end. That is 35 yrs. on this pond speaking. There has also been two BASS derbys won up there. One out of Rock Creek and another out of the Kings River cranking a wart. Most often sheer numbers and nothing except Brent Ehrler since the fish kill.

I have never caught a 4 pound or for that matter very few K's over 3 pounds up the White River. I have caught not hundreds but thousands of K's over 3 pounds from about Big Creek to Long Creek.

3.5 pound K's or old grey ones as we call them just are not up there in the numbers of the lower lake. They may have been spawned up there, but they seem to migrate to the deep water of the lower lake.

Lots and lots of quanity as far as numbers, but not the monsters we catch down the pond on a day to day basis. While we can count a few and mention a few derbys won up there, there are thousands won on the rest of the lake.

As you all know I'm not taking away anything from the White as you all know how much I love it. I drive from Blue Eye to take clients out of Viney every chance I get, but you will just not catch the same quality on that end on a consistant basis.

Good Luck

Also as you get way up there is simply a little less water to chase them in. Can make them easier to find.

Like it better up there when it is cold. Pretty small when there are lots of boats running around.
