dtrs5kprs Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Last day to fish was today. Decided to try and find some better ones. Threw the chandelier a bunch. Had one black right at 4 pounds running a three bait rig over deep trees on a secondary point. That was it. Finesse fish seemed to be put off by the weather. Did not grub or tube fish. Could probably have gone harder at them but was half drowned by that rain.
Champ188 Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Glad you had an extended stay at the lake. Really enjoyed and appreciate your reports. Sorry it had to end.
dtrs5kprs Posted May 1, 2012 Author Posted May 1, 2012 I'll get that zip code changed one of these days. Ugly weather pattern though. Will be back in June for the family trip.
Bill Babler Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 It was just BRUTAL for me this morning after the lightning fireworks of last night. If you can believe it I saw Big Cedar Guides dangling crawlers on Bridge Piers. It was hard. Surface temp when I started at 6:30 AM were 67 degree at the Indian Point Launch Ramp. When I came in at 3:30 Pm the temps were 73. Fish started to bite for us about 11 AM using either a jig, split-shot or a tube. Never had a grub bite all day.Ended up with mid 20 something fish and 4 maybe 5 keeps. Did have one big LM at a shade over 4 on a tube in about 1 ft. of water at 2 PM. We only had 5 fish with 1 keeper prior to 11 AM. I tired everything I could think of. Be interesting to know how the derby boys did today in the Partol tournement. I think even with the big one we would have only had 12 pounds. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
dtrs5kprs Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 She is sure fishing differently at times. Going to have to re-learn how to catch largemouth after years of chasing brown ones. They did not seem to like Monday a.m.'s weather not surprised to hear they did not like today's.
Members tmoney Posted May 2, 2012 Members Posted May 2, 2012 21.3 won it today. Big bass was 9.1 wow what a hog! Top 3 where all over 7 lbs. I had my biggest ever that was over 6 but spawned out. Huge frame fish! My Best 5 hit 15.7 which I was thrilled with. Caught them early on a Carolina rig with a 4 inch finess off of transition main lake points. Later the biffle bug was the ticket next too structure and shade. Most folks I talked to had the most success on a crank in shallow flats with the Gail force winds that we have. Today was my first ever t
Bill Babler Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Good for you. Sounds like a good derby. I had a pretty good one on a square bill early, and then the drought begun. Someone in that derby always catches a toad sack. From your report, there were several of them today. Thanks http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
