Ok I have Surf Rods & Reels and what I need,I'm just not doing something right.Yesterday I started 3 Oz. Weight, seen there was no way. Went to 6 Oz. weight just lost too many.

HELP on Rigging, can't be losing weight every time I throw out or going to Dead Cove and relax?

you need to run with 30# test and 5-6 oz. sinker. need to have a threeway rig with weight on bottom. fish on the handicap dock (east)side as you will get hung up less. you still need to throw a little ways out to clear rocks, snags etc. and sometimes you still lose them. use cut shad or bluegill and you should catch them.

good luck

also in my experience, there is a direct correlation with them running water. (fish bite when they're running water)

I have seen shad hitting the banks up there recently, especially around the first bend from the dam. I know ppl say blugill works, and I am sure it does, but my experience has been shad works better and prduces more bites. I caught this 40 lb 42' blue catfish in my profile picture up here last year, in june. used fresh cut shad. our poles with bluegill produced nothing. I was using set up fishnwrench refered too as well. If im not mistaken, catfish bite shuole be really hot right now too...i mean super hot!

Good luck!

If you can't get the slinky rig materials you can string 1oz egg sinkers on 100# dacron. Keep them pretty close on the string on the string. I don't think they work quite as well as the chute cord, but they work a lot better than one big crack grabbin' sinker.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I'm thinking Slinky rig is the answer. This is my problem just losing weights.

Now all I need to figure out is what to do with trash on my Line at the river below the house.

let me know how the slinky works. maybe im just throwing a little farther than others. a local named chris and scotty showed me the rig i use and i only get hung up about 10% of the time. i also am referring to fishing in the no boating zone above the bouys where there is major rip rap to prevent erosion when they release water. further down from the bouys and around the bend is smoother bottom from what i sonared. i agree with shad being better. it is my go to bait but i have also landed 40# fish from the bank on bluegill and my wife caught a 23# flathead up there. just my opinion, but i think its just what they are in the mood for at the time. have seen both work. hope i helped?

oh, and casting far enough out is around 60 yards or more.

good luck
