Bill Babler Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Monday, May 7th. White River Outfitters Current Fishing Report Picked up Dale at 5:45 this morning off the Big Cedar Dock. Did not take us long to get on them. Just about the best bite I have had down here in this area this year. With all the heavy weather, we only fished till about 9 AM, but had 8 keepers with the best 5 at about 17 pounds. Largemouth, K's and 3 very nice Small Jaw's. Everything this morning on a 3/8th. oz PigSticker football head with his new green pumpkin/orange skirt. Jason now has a Greenpumpkin head and the paint on this head is super. He told me it is a 6 coat process. Color is perfect in the stained water around the dam and also works really well up the White in the clearer water. Caught a bunch on it this weekend. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Quillback Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Thanks for the report, pardon my ignorance, but who is Jason? Does he sell those jigs online?
Bill Babler Posted May 7, 2012 Author Posted May 7, 2012 www.pigstickerbait.com Jason and Becky Baxter are co-owners with another partner. Local bait company out of Billings Missouri. Specializing in jigs and they also make several of the best A-Rigs on the market. Jason knows fishing. He is Bill Beck's nephew, "Don't hold that against him." He has fished this area his entire life is a very accomplished fisherman and bait builder. His products are extreme quality. Fantastic Website you can order from. I usually use the Quick 5 in 3/8th. or 1/2 oz. super baits with a live skirt in all the Table Rock fish catching colors and a very stout hook. Not a EWG, but a straight hook. I'm not a fan of the EWG hook. Take a look at his website and you will like what you see. I Know the bass on Table Rock and Lake of the Ozarks do. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
dtrs5kprs Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 That jig skirt looks a lot like the "puke" tube everyone was looking for a couple of weeks ago. Pretty good match for the craws they were spitting up in the dingy water.
Quillback Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Thanks Bill, I'll check out their site. I'm always on the lookout for good jigs.
Bill Babler Posted May 7, 2012 Author Posted May 7, 2012 5, Almost all of us are diping the tube tips in orange dye. The craws right now lake wide are just the same color as that jig green pumpkin/black specked bodies and orange rims on tail and pincers. I will lay it down next to a craw the next chance I get These fish have moved now where I can get at them. No more of that sissy on the bank stuff. Most all fish today in the 16 to 26 ft. range on the runnouts. Good one too that are willing to EAT that jig. Most all of them had it good they were not messing around, they were going to flat eat it. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Jason Essary Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Bill. I agree, Pigstickers are the best jigs made. Price is good and they hold up till you lose them in the cracks. Havent used that color, but will be looking for it. They help sponsor our Friday Night Millcreek Tourneys and almost always have one tied on. Thanks for the great report. Had a guy fishing the BASS look at some spit up craws and say he knew exactly which color to use...puke. Ran into another BASS guy at Rich's shop after the 1st day of BASS looking for...puke tubes. Gave him a baggie of 6 or so I had in the boat and he was like a kid at Christmas. No one else around Kim City had any. Had grabbed a bulk bag at Fin & Feather after seeing BPS out. Saw Pete had some orange dip on the trailers in his video report. Green pumpkin tubes I was dragging had little orange dots painted on the bellies like a crankbait color. Spike-it double end pen. Put a brown fish in the box for a few minutes to take a pic, it ate the craws out of the livewell that a different fish had spit up!!! And some of you guys eat fish? Believe I'll stick to something corn fed. Those craws were a washed out sort of orange with a good bit of black on the pinchers and bits of shell. Good to hear the "guide" bite is picking up, as I will be playing that role with the kids in a month. After several 20" blacks in all that high water last summer their expectations might be set a bit high. They are crazy to catch one on the chandelier. Hopefully we can do that in the first 10 minutes then put it somewhere safe. With a bait wrap on it. In a rod box.
Bill Babler Posted May 8, 2012 Author Posted May 8, 2012 I was going to mention that Fin and Feather had that tube. Good point. They also have a Perch tube that is the complete bomb. Looks like crud until you put it in the water and then it looks great and the fish like it also. One thing about the tubes Fin and Feather have is they are all 5 inch tubes. May not be a deal at all, but the Chompers are 4 inch and I just beleive they work better. A little slimmer and an inch shorter. Buster at one time also used a Bitsy Tube that was about a 3 inch tube that worked great. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
CMAC Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Chompers makes a trailer called orange marmalade (twin tail) that works great in small sizes 4 and 5 inch.
