moguy1973 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Today in the mail I got an offer to join the North American Fishing Club. Looks like for $1/month you get their magazine and the privilege to test equipment for free. Seems like a good deal. Anyone else a member and have any input on the benefits of being a member? -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Stoneroller Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 not worth is. save your money. I've yet to get any 'test' gear from them that wasn't a package of hooks or something equally worthless. The lifetime members, ie the suckers, are the ones that get the 'good' products to test. Besides the bass technique book they sent me, that I had to pay for, on top of the membership fees, I feel like I wasted my money. Fish On Kayak Adventures, LLC. Feathers and Fins Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Joined it years back and quickly found out its a joke like Stone said.. Spend your money on SOMETHING ELSE! You want to really spend money on something good and of Michael Folkes <sp> Videos are good, Tribute to Tuna is good Tribute to Wahoo was way cool seeing a wahoo come 30ft out of water. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Members kirbydog Posted May 16, 2012 Members Posted May 16, 2012 As said by others, save your money. I joined way back in the day and quickly found out what a scam it is. Also, as pointed out, they have a habit of sending you books you never ordered and billing you. The tackle I got to try was a small packet of baitholder hooks.
Al Agnew Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I didn't even know they were still in business. Years ago I furnished artwork for the cover of their magazine off and on for several years. I thought the magazine was fairly good, not quite the quality of In Fisherman but had some good articles. I was made a supposedly lifetime member as part of the compensation for the covers, but never received any of the "test" tackle. A few years ago they stopped sending me magazines, and I just figured they had gone out of business. Probably some new people started managing and decided that I wasn't a life member after all. I also did a couple book covers for them. Best book they came out with, as far as I was concerned, was a fish cookbook.
moguy1973 Posted May 16, 2012 Author Posted May 16, 2012 In this offer packet they sent me their logo sticker, a fishing license holder, and a largemouth bass window decal. I think I'll stick the window decal on the side of my kayak and keep the license holder. Junk the rest. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
