Stump bumper Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 Did everyone see this on the general forum. http://www.katv.com/story/18449201/heart-broken-not-record
Feathers and Fins Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I so hope IGFA Certifies it a WORLD RECORD... SLAP AGFC in the face for the handling of this and to Make it a point in the future to have personel available to deal with it. This From the reading is a complete BS by AGFC... https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Stump bumper Posted May 23, 2012 Author Posted May 23, 2012 I don't see how denying the World Record Striper is helping the State of Arkansas?? I know they can't deny a World Record but denying it was caught here or are they denying it was caught or it was 68lbs? The fact AGFC can't afford a set of certified scales to travel with makes me wonder what they do with the money we give them. If they can't weigh a fish why are we paying so many of the 6 figures a year. Give me a state car and $30K a year and I will travel anywhere any time night and day to weigh your possible records( will even buy the scales), even take pics with my own cell phone.lol Oh I can't do that forgot I didn't have the right degree.....lol Guess if I had a masters I would understand why you can't carry a certified spring scale....
Fishin Hodge Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 The AGFC seems to botch a lot of stuff. You all know I am not striper in Bull Shoals fan, but for a new possible world record and there desire to stock this lake with stripers, the comissioner himself should have walked up here barefoot carrying the scale to weigh that fish. Amazing, but I for one am not suprised.
Quillback Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 There's some US records that are questionable, both the LM and SM records are controversial.
laker67 Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 A gigantic fish for sure. My congrats and I wish him the best of luck on the record. IGFA can be tuff, it is normally a long process with their requirements and judging board. They cater more to salt water because thats where they make their money. Sometimes freshwater gets put on hold. I had a fresh water record verified once, and it took 7 months. They have several requirements, and you have to make the grade on each and every one.
Stump bumper Posted May 23, 2012 Author Posted May 23, 2012 Makes you wonder if you can't get a state official to weigh a fish right in Arkansas where can you set a record? NYC? This is an area where half the residents make their living selling cattle.... everything to do with raising cows has to be weighed..... This is fishing not passing a bill through congress, sad that our government can't even agree on how to weigh a fish and there are departments set up to argue this process.... I found a dying silver carp in Beaver one day that I lifted up on the boat and it was over 50lbs on my scales and regretted at the time not taking it in to see if it was a state record...so glad I didn't now...the fish wasn't "caught" on a hook anyway. Does anyone know if this guy had tobacco on the boat or if he is a democrat or republican or what web sites he has been on???? IT IS WEIGHING A FISH NOT ATOMS!!!!!
