No way is a Sammy 115 too big for smallmouth, at least not on the Gasconade. It is by far my favorite topwater lure, caught 25 on it last Saturday. I make no modifications to it and it is easier to walk than a Spook, with that little splash. Explosive strikes.

Yep, 115 is the one I'm most likely to be throwing on bigger water or water with some stain. 100 is the all around size, works in both clear and murky water. Modified 85 is for smaller streams and very clear water. I've never even tried the 65...don't think you need to go that small. Gunfish works very well, and with a feathered treble on the rear it has a somewhat different profile. The G-Splash walks the dog as good as any popper type lure.

In my case as well as some others...I suspect other WTD lures can be as effective as Sammies, but Sammies work so I'm always reluctant to try others.

Sounds like I need to get a 115. Ha. Just another excuse to add to the collection!

I know it probably doesn't matter much, but I have to pick one anyway and there are so many choices. But, what color do you guys like on the Missouri rivers? I have something like chartruese shad in the 100 and my 85 is ghost minnow.

Any of the light, minnow-like colors seem to work well. For very clear water I like the translucent colors a lot better, though. Chartreuse shad is as good as any for an all-around color.

That little zip'n ziggy has a great action and it catches fish judging by Mr. Bigs performance on the river the other day. Price aint bad either...Picked up a few today...No financial interest...but

The Hookup Tackle..has a 20% off deal this month...enter USA in the promo code box...Expensive day...dropped $100 on gear...and picked up an Ari Hart Traun F1 Fly reel from a friend of mine.

I picked up a couple of the strike king sexy dawgs and they walk really easy and they dont sit tail down when you stop them like the Sammy's do. They are half the price too.
