Greasy B Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Has anyone seen bedding Bluegills in Bull Creek? The next two weeks should be the peak spawn of the year. I have heard rumors and stories but I need a little more concrete evidence before I can justify the long drive down. tho1mas Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 The grandson & I fished Bull Creek one day last week. Went all the way up as far as the boat would float. We saw no nests on the gravel up there. We caught many gills but not many big ones. We were using fly rods w/poppers. Also caught a few bass. Might have done better with worms in deeper water.
Members Crappie Fisherman Posted May 25, 2012 Members Posted May 25, 2012 The big ones were spawning up there about two weeks ago, they might be done. It's just getting started on Table Rock. Fish gravel flats and points with crickets in 10-20 feet of water on the bottom. The dam area is great but it's also good lakewide.

Thanks, that's just what I was wondering. If you can take another look middle of next week. The fish will spawn in waves so the 3 or 4 days after the full moon might find them shallow and a bedding. I know TR has a great population but I just can't make myself bait fish for bluegills, the one exception is Reelfoot. Those fish are so big and so plentiful that I gladly use crickets and slide bobbers. Greasy B Posted May 26, 2012 Author Posted May 26, 2012 I rank 10" Bluegill on a top water fly right up there with 20" Brown Trout on the fly or 18" river Smallie on gear.
