dave potts Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 There was an ad in today's St Louis paper for a Professor Higbee Stream and Lake Map of numerous lakes and streams in Missouri. Kind of priceyat $28 for a 3.5 by 4.25 map. Anybody have any experience of it? Claims to show over 5000 miles of fishing streams. Dave
Wayne SW/MO Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 I would go with Tryon's 100 Smallmouth Adventures. I realize he didn't catch the SW and the north, but the north is mostly made up of coloered streams more conducive to bait fishing and the SW isn't that hard to add in. He gives accesses and that is more important than just where a body of water is. The little pond and lakes are listed on the MDC Atlas. Higbee probably got most of his information from these sources. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Al Agnew Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Makes a nice wall map, but you'll get a lot more information from a De Lorme atlas. Just knowing a stream is there doesn't tell you how to access it, or whether there is enough water in it to furnish fishing, etc.
Stoneroller Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 on a related note, I heard the Paddler's Guide to Missouri (Misery or Mizura) was being updated and rereleased this spring. Has anyone heard anything on this? Fish On Kayak Adventures, LLC. Supreme Commander 'The Dude' of Kayak fishing www.fishonkayakadventures.com fishonkayakadventures@yahoo.com
Wayne SW/MO Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 No but if they do I would hope it would a useful update. Not much has changed, except the increased use of GPS. If they would update with gps coordinates I suspect everyone would want a new one. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

moguy1973 Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 I know they are updating it because I had a really hard time finding one last fall so I asked a lady at Powder Valley up here in STL when they'd get more and she did say they were in the process of updating it. Finally found an old one at Rt66 SP, but not sure If the new one is out yet. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Wayne SW/MO Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 MIZZOURAH! Exactly! Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
dave potts Posted May 27, 2012 Author Posted May 27, 2012 Well, it got a little off topic but I did get the answer I was looking for. I suspected it didn't amount to much .
Stoneroller Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 kid you not, I see paddlers guides on amazon market place for $100 and more... check it out... I really hope they update the guide with the new accesses, more information about the accesses and accurate information concering the mileage and location of springs along many of the rivers. left is right, right is left sometimes. =) Fish On Kayak Adventures, LLC.
