Don't see this thread lasting much longer ...

If it does, why don't we put forward ACTUAL DATA. I am a tweener that tries to see all the angles (no human can do such a thing).

My personal belief has no bearing on any of you, but sharing data and knowledge is fun for intelligent adults like all of us.

Tables, graphs, actual links to studies (of course one side will discredit the credibility of the experiment and visa-versa ... tis life).

If I find any mind-blowing experiments in the next few days, then I will share.

Ok. Where do you want to start.

We can do book chapter and verse as long as there's sentient life out there to look at it.

The non-sentient life can stick to their conspiracy theories.

I was just trying to get people to quit spouting talking points from fill-in-the-blank radio and tv "news" shows.

A simple CONVERSATION about the science that is behind this. Wouldn't it be great to see those 500 year old records from China?

I like science and facts and since there are so many strong opinions on this board, I figured facts would be the best way to argue any point (some have already posted facts).

You asked where to start ... how about anyone that hasn't already done so, defend their statements with factual evidence (this could get hairy, but let's try to keep religion out of it if possible).

If you don't like this idea, then keep up with the same ol' same ol'.

I will go back to worrying about Elk (dang it, I capitalized it again).

PS - the sarcasm on this board runs deep, it took me a few years to catch up ...

Yup ok you got it.... i put the same faith in it i do the money our goverment spent on pig fart research.

...and to start, it's not pig farts that are the problem. Pigs have lower intestinal fermentation and don't produce many greenhouse gasses. It's ruminants like cows that contribute about 25% of the greenhouses gases currently extant by breaking down cellulose that would normally remained inert.

If you want a citation, you can dig it up here...http://books.google....id=FqAG6jeihj8C

One of the the authors is a friend of mine. He also studies pig intestines (and ostrich farts and fish farts and iguana farts). Apparently the private sector holds him in higher esteem than you do since a big chunk of his money comes from there.

It was cow farts and dinosaur farts that caused all of the climatic events last I kept count.

Data can be construed any way by any one. I feel that elk were eliminated by natural selection in MO and reintroduction is a waste of money. The natural selection cause has only gotten worse since the extinction. Why bother?

We're 4 pages in...do you want the whole bibliography for everything that's been touched on so far? We can do that.

We did this for 2 years on smallies.com. The bottom line was that there is no amount of evidence for the denial side because they think the scientists are liars and when you pin the deniers down with fact and evidence they just dismiss it as a conspiracy.

You can cover that with humor or sarcasm or however you want to ice it...

...but underneath it's the same old...stuff.

But fine. Name a topic. 500 year old Chinese data set? Sure. Let's see it.

That's why you don't listen to just anyone. Logic has rules and science makes predictions that come true....for instance over 300 straight months with above average global temperatures.

Subsidy's means that the govt is spending money on something the public doesn't want, force feeding them if you will.

I have heard of grasping for straws but, wow! I guess you don't have a clue of what all is subsidized.

Natural selection huh??? Must be something about being around the Cape Girardeau area that makes people say the stupidest things. Some get lucky though and some how make a career out of it. Keep it up and you can get a statue too. Yee haw!

But 300 months, 25 years, 1/4 century, is a small amount of time considering life on earth has been here for millions of years and changes have been recorded in epochs. A 25 year cycle with only a degree of change is not that significant in the grand scale of things.

I could say were are in a period of global drying now, we have less than 3 inches of rain this year since Feb based on my rain gauge. I could even make a fancy chart to show it to folks. But everyone around me is getting more rain.

Data shows that elk were eliminated by natural selection, they could not adapt to a natural predator, man. They did not die of a massive disease, natural disaster, or any other reason. They could not adapt. That is the data I have available, do you have any other theories????

I would like to see that data because the last I knew shooting them with a gun was not natural.
