Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 14, 2012 Root Admin Posted June 14, 2012 Roaring River State Park now offers free Wi-Fi services at the Emory Melton Inn and Conference Center and all three campgrounds. "We hope that by giving our guests the option to 'stay connected' customers will camp more often and extend their stays," said Dusty Reid, park superintendent. "Whether it is staying in touch with family while they are traveling, keeping abreast of weather issues and forecasts or posting pictures of the big fish they just caught, we feel there is an added level of comfort being provided to our customers while enjoying their Missouri State Parks." Stoneroller Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 sweet I hated running all that CAT 5 cable to my tent from the conference center. Fish On Kayak Adventures, LLC. Supreme Commander 'The Dude' of Kayak fishing www.fishonkayakadventures.com fishonkayakadventures@yahoo.com
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 I wonder if the cell phone service has been improved. I camped there with the family a few years ago, short story long, my son kept opening the door to the van, left the lights on inside and the battery died. I have a motor club memebership and was going to call them in, figured I pay for it, may as well use it, and give the local towing business a bone. My cell did not work No service whatsoever. As is usual the campground host was more than willing to help us and we got it back to be able to start. Good thing too, later that night the remenants of Hurricane Ike came through and flooded the campground we were camping on. We were evacuated before the storm came through, and were camping on higher ground, but still we had nothing dry that was inside the tent. The campground we were camping at was completely covered deep water, and the River was definately Roaring. :-) Good times. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. Jack Jones Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Agreed. My cell service doesn't kick in until about the liquor store/gas station area. Even then it's spotty until town. On 248 and 37 it's non-existent until I get to Braums. But at least I can email at the campground and if I update to the IPhone 4S I can FaceTime. And I get to read the forum! Buzz Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 My Verizon works too good down there. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
Members mchunter Posted June 16, 2012 Members Posted June 16, 2012 My brother has U.S. Cellular and it works well down there too, but my AT&T is useless. It doesn't even search, just says no service. Guess its good if you want to get away from phone calls, though. MCHUNTER
