Al Agnew Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Although I hate drop box fee collection because I never seem to have the correct number of bills, I'd be for that as a use fee if it went to maintenance of the accesses and possible purchase of new accesses. In fact, as I think of it, it might cut down on the numbers of party animals that take over the accesses like the Riddle Bridge access on the Gasconade. Although the original starter of this whole thread got some positive feedback from a state politician, I suspect the only way anything like this happens is by initiative petition. And all anybody would have to do to defeat the petition is keep saying the dreaded word "taxes". Oh well, I'm out here on the Yellowstone River now, which is off limits to all motorized traffic, is pretty clean and never full of party dorks even though it gets pretty crowded, has great access, you never see people poaching on it...sometimes I wonder why I still love the Ozarks so much.

jbtiwns30 Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 im new to the state and i was shocked to see how cheep it was to get a fishing license, i say bring up the price 2 or 3 bucks and raise the trout stamp some also. i believe that something has to be done but not for extra taxing, its hard to find a place to take my kids fishing with all the stuff that happens on most rivers or streams down here. even raise the fine if some one throws trash on the banks of the streams or rivers.

The fishing license fees should be used to support the fisheries and hatcheries program of the state. Trout stamp goes to fund the trout program. Raising either one would not have any effect on enforcement or new land purchases. That would be funded by the 1/8 cent sales tax for conservation already in place. What happens on the rivers that you do not want your kids around? I take mine out all of the time.
