Lowest I have ever seen Elk River. Normally this time of year is about when it finally starts going down to a fishable level, but this year it has been at the level and lower now for 2 months. I sure hope it rains soon.

Bull Creek's historical low was 4.5, it's now 1.2, Beaver creek, was 35, now 24, Kings, 17, now 5.9, Flat, 70, now 23.

Bad news. I suspect a lot of prices for food will skyrocket. If they have to start killing livestock it will be a serious economic hit.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Great report Al!! I was at Hardy for the 4th, and crossed the Spring and Eleven Point rivers, they seem to be holding up due to the huge springs that feed them. You mention the Eleven Point holding up well at Bardley, but I wonder how the flow is above Greer Spring, I bet it's stuggling to above there. I also crossed Martin creek, which is a nice little bass creek near Ravenden. It wasn't much more than a trickle compared to what it usually is. Our small creeks could be in trouble for sure if this continues. Decent rain chances in the forcast for Sunday and Monday, praying for a good one!!

There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!

cattle prices are at a all time high. if some of the big boys sold off some cattle it may actually be good for the cattle market.

I'm going to try to use the low water as an opportunity to fish the main stem Gasconade on the hunch that recreational power boat traffic has slowed down. Maybe just maybe enough clown boats have eaten rocks to scare the owners into parking them for the season.

??? You realize that a good cattle market is bad news for consumers, right?

At ant rate that's now, if in the future they sell off because they can't feed them the bottom line will be an eventually shortage and higher prices. It won't just be cattle either.

One could look at that as a good thing, more vegetarians, but then the flora side isn't in any shape too handle a run on it either.

A lot was done after the dust bowl days to prevent a recurrence, but it was caused by a drought and there is no guarantee that farmers will fare any better today.

I'm afraid we are just getting started.

It has. I fished for 6 hours on Sunday and didn't see a jet boat or a canoe. Just a guy with a 14ft jon and a trolling motor. And he was restricted to one pool (too shallow).
