Has anyone used the "sticky baits"?

Small cats aren't really worth keeping because they don't produce the meat that deep bodied fish do, but they grow fast if they would turn them back. People often create a vicious circle, they keep smaller fish because there are none larger and create a pool of small fish! I always liked them about 15" to 20".

that area is notorious for people keeping way over the limit of fish. the mdc could pay an agents salary there in citations. watched a couple of people one time fill a 5 gallon bucket with small channel cats. must have had at least 30 of them

That's what Operation Game Thief is for. I'm a big believer in conservation so my daughter will have a chance to see why I love doing what I do, and hopefully fall in love with it like I did. So when I see people with no regard for daily limits, Conservation gets a tip from me.

You can request a reward but it has to be approved. I think the rewards go up to 1,000 dollars but I'm sure that's for helping to catch arsonists and the big poachers. I've never gotten a reward but I don't think I've ever asked for one so that may be why lol

If you got any results that would be an award in itself. I've had some luck on hot dogs in the past, especially if they are marinated. It has been a long time since I used any, but we used chopped shrimp, garlic, chopped chicken livers and anise, not all at the same time. We ran everything but the anise through a blender and then mixed it with salt and water and soaked the sliced hot dogs in it for a few days. I remember it being a lot like the old JB, some days it was a hot bait and other a complete bust.

to catch gills I use hook and line. a #6 hook with just a small piece of worm. if you use too big of a piece of worm they will just strip it off the hook. I usually try to catch the bait where I am going to fish. as for shad, you need a cast net and I don't have any experience with that. bluegill spawn several times a year and if you find an area where they are spawning, then catch some for bait and after dark FISH THERE! you've found the dinner table. PS if you can't catch any bait in an area it is probably void of bigger fish also

Bacon is a pretty good bait. The trick is to throw it in a pan for just long enough to get the fat juices flowing. Then you can either wrap it around your hook and tie it on with some thread or just roll it up and stick it on the hook. I've had pretty good luck with it on eater size channels.

Why waste bacon on the fish? You could have a girl that loves bacon and to fish with you.Sorry I just had to say it.Have a great day.
