Members fish_in_a_lund Posted July 20, 2012 Members Posted July 20, 2012 Is there any fly shops in Springfield, other then BPS?
Flysmallie Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Backcountry Outfitters on S. Campbell. Across from Incredible Pizza.

jdmidwest Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 I did not realize there was that much distance between the two towns. I have to travel 100 miles to the nearest fly shop.... "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Lancer09 Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 It's not that far, still I'd rather stay in town then drive all the way down into branson, and potentially fight that traffic if I could help it. Other than backcountry though, I don't think there are any others.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Used to be you had to drive from Branson to ARK. But then my old my fly shop in Ark changed hands.. just haven't visited since. Lilleys is the local shop.... unless you require premiere brands on rods and reels. Best prices on tying materials within 200 miles..not just some stuff, all stuff~! Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 23, 2012 Root Admin Posted July 23, 2012 Watch it.... Tim's shop is closer than 200 miles. I love his shop!!
Members dogwooddude Posted July 23, 2012 Members Posted July 23, 2012 I believe your question was regarding a Fly Fishing shop and distance doesn't seem to be a problem. Well unfortunately Back Country Outfitters is no longer the great shop it was some years ago and BPS has reduced the offerings of fly fishing equipment over the years. If you want a truly dedicated Fly Fishing Outfitter with probably the best stock of supplies of any shop I have ever visited then pop into River Run Outfitters in Branson. They are located close the dam on Hwy 165 about a half mile south from the turning to the Hatchery. The owners, Stan and Carolyn Parker are both guides and would be delighted to see you.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 23, 2012 Root Admin Posted July 23, 2012 Both Parker's shop and Gries's shop on 165 are good fly shops with ample tying materials and excellent flies for Taneycomo and other trout fisheries. River Run or Anglers and Archery.
