Using free plans I decided to build the 7yr. old grandson a kayak....

But instead of a Skin on Frame I'm building it out of 1/8'' Baltic birch plywood...One 5'X5' sheet should do it....

The frames attached to the stifback... I added 1/2'' strips to increase the beam to 20'' and to be able to mark the cardboard templates...

Well the same as a cedar boat reinforced with fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin...the final coats on the bottom is a mixture of graphite powder and epoxy...which prevents rocks from grabing and gouging.....Wood boats are tough...
