Members dbaltz Posted July 22, 2012 Members Posted July 22, 2012 Can anyone shed light on the creek past yelville? Accesses points, distance till the creek goes under ground, and do the generic tourist info ring true about BIGER fish being bellow Yelville?
Ham Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 There is an access below the Hwy 101 Bridge. A not insignificant amount of government money was used to put in a boat ramp that would be sketchy to use when there enough water to launch a boat. Head south on Hwy 101. Turn left before you get to the bridge. There is a sign. Wander down to the access. Enjoy the dry river bed. I doubt the sections that go dry every year ever hold many fish even when they have water.. There may be potholes that hold over fish, but I think they are largely mythical. Members dbaltz Posted July 22, 2012 Author Members Posted July 22, 2012 Ham, Thanks for the info! It did not add up that the portion of the creek that ends up flowing into the karst rock would hold the ecosystem that would hold the bigest fish.
gotmuddy Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 the creek holds many large largemouths in the pools, but no smallmouths of any real size. Two years ago I did some exploring below yellville and basically just did ALOT of walking. I caught many fish but it was not worth the effort. You would walk half a mile between holes sometimes. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
