Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 4, 2012 Author Root Admin Posted August 4, 2012 I've been in the laundry all morning so sorry if I miss you guys in the office.
laker67 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 It's just like you would imagine... suck it from the lower in while no water being released means lower water level throughout the lake but especially noticeable in the extreme upper end. If you fish down at Powersite, and I don't very often except in the spring, they'll run water for short periods of time when lake levels are low. When Taney has been shut down there's still water running into the lake and Powersite, instead of letting it do over the top, they'll run it through the turbines, not to lose the opportunity to make a buck (rightfully so). But if they keep running even when Taney's level is at or below the magic power pool mark, then that's when we see low levels up here. I've talked to the manager at Powersite in the past and every time he saw they're not doing that... but the evidence tells a different story. UNLESS there's a leak at Powersite, then they're running it through the turbines. Thanks Phil. Another thing that was noticeable last night, was the current. Even the short while the water was off, it was certainly running heavier above rebar.
fshndoug Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Hey Rick, with a little current at least you know whether you are facing up or downstream at night.
laker67 Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Hey Rick, with a little current at least you know whether you are facing up or downstream at night. Yep, on dark nights that is important. U just have to remember which direction u parked.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 6, 2012 Author Root Admin Posted August 6, 2012 Got out a couple of times yesterday. First in the heat of the day with little results. 6:30 till dark, drifted from Short Creek to our place using 1/8th oz sculpin/ginger jig. Didn't catch much till I got down to below the old Sun Valley, then it picked up all the way to Lilleys'. Caught a couple of browns and a half dozen rainbows. Water was dropping but never stopped flowing.
LittleRedFisherman Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Phil, fished from 530 this morning till 730 before we left to head home. One thing that was different the other day, I was using a white 1/8oz jig and caught all browns. This morning was catching nothing on the white, then went to a skulpin/ginger jig and caught a couple rainbows before I had to leave. It's a beautiful place there, and look forward to fishing every time we come to Branson from now on, was impressed with Taney, and your place as well, top notch!! Took a little while to get used to the big boats, on the Little Red and White, most everybody has to run Supreme/Shawnee's like mine.... I I'm gonna try the jig technique on those rivers as well in the future! Seems that the fish caught doing that were more quality, especially the browns!! There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 7, 2012 Author Root Admin Posted August 7, 2012 White usually gets more browns than rainbows... always been that way. Not sure why. I need to throw it more than I do. Glad you had a good time.
