Ham Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Wait until they stock in October and it is relatively easy. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Members jdixon Posted August 19, 2012 Members Posted August 19, 2012 I just got back from a week long trip to the mt. home area and floated the norfork three times. I caught 2 brookies just below the start of the catch and area, if you want a little more of a challenge. It is fun to catch one, they are pretty fish.
Members Aaron Mills Posted August 27, 2012 Members Posted August 27, 2012 I haven't fished nofork dam in a couple of years due to the changes in the runs and that it gets so crowded so easily now with the lawn chair crowd. if you cover different types of water you will probably note the pattern. And, they will probably be in the same spots next time. The runs have changed a lot up there since i was fishing it regularly or i would give you some spots to try.
John Berry Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 There are more brookies up by the dam than anywhere else. John Berry OAF CONTRIBUTOR Fly Fishing For Trout (870)435-2169 http://www.berrybrothersguides.com berrybrothers@infodash.com
kwall Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 I use to fish there behind all the time before the huge changes to the river -- sad that that has happend , looks to me that the gavel around there has become a real problem and is the reason I haven't been back-- I caught some really nice fish there before the gravel bars showed up
ColdWaterFshr Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 I'm no expert on the Norfork, but we found plenty of great habitat this recent trip. Those that I was fishing with knew what it was like before, and what it is like now, and they say it is just different -- not better or worse. Buddy caught a fat 18 inch brook this weekend, well down from the dam. I caught my first slam, too, though I only got the 1 brookie in a day and a half of fishing.
