I was wrong...this is the stupidest thing written on this post.

A couple of thoughts come to mind.

I am thinking you have not had one of these recently.

My truck once got egged at the take out. Sure wish I would have been packing so I could have evened the score.

My truck did get egged but to shoot someone over it?? It was an attempt at some humor pointed at some of the over zealous pistol packers. My apologies if it was a little too complicated for you to comprehend.

Unless you guys are fishing one handed and holding your piece in the other, I figure the chances of getting the first and maybe even second, third and possibly fourth shot off are pretty slim.

Actually, I think there is quite a bit of truth to this. If you encounter someone with a gun, it most likely is already pointed at you in a tense situation. I am thinking you don't stand much of a chance of getting to your peace maker before a half dozen shots are already headed your way. But I remember years ago watching a show called Alias Smith and Jones. Wow, now that man had a fast draw!

Who's gonna blame me for wrecking this thread?

Well it was close but, I think you may have nudged me out. I'll get you for this!!!

. For the record Ness, I got it!! :)
I did too.

I don't dispute them....I do however understand that firarms prevent a lot of crimes...some estimates are between 1.5-2.5 mil a year. "Americans, in part due to mainstream media’s anti-gun bias, dramatically underestimate the defensive uses of guns. Some, after using a gun for self-defense, fear that the police may charge them for violating some law or ordinance about firearm possession and use. So many Americans simply do not tell the authorities." http://www.wnd.com/2005/09/32103/

We're supposed to use commantary and phone surveys for fact???

I did find this video which does seem to support the argument that guns prevent crime:

You know...I wouldn't exactly be quoting World Nutcase Daily as a source, LOL. But that's just me.

The agitated and vehement responses from some folks here tend to prove what I was saying earlier in the thread about the nature of some of these CCW folks. It seems that the non-carriers around here seem to be more calm. And when I'm out on the water or in the woods that's what I'm looking for....calm.

I guess LL Bean's website is down.

Well ray, I don't know. I'm certainly not a calmer driver and I drive a small car, LOL. But I have seen many people in bigger trucks act like total morons and drive very agressively on the theory that "theirs is bigger so get out of the way." Seen it in small cars too because they can whip in and out of smaller spaces (myself included). It all depends on the personality type, but my experience is that guns, big trucks, etc... tend to attract certain personality types that I generally don't like to associate with. Certainly not everyone. But when I'm sizing up a sitation, I'm going to look at all factors and draw from my experiences. So bottom line, these are guidelines and not applicable to everyone.

And for what its worth, this was true back in the Northeast too where every dumbass who got a souped up 4-wheel drive vehicle or SUV thought they could drive in a freakin blizzard until they realized it only made them go faster, not stop faster. Me? I had a Ford Escort at the time and drove it in all kinds of winter weather without an issue.

So, back to the original post......carry what you like, no need to flaunt it, and if you live and let live there probably won't be any trouble.

The reality is, you don't hear about many cases where CCW users accidentally shoot someone. And rarely does concealed carry save anyone's life. So it's basically a wash...Not worth all of the anger that this thread has seen IMO. I don't carry and probably never will, but I respect responsible people's choices. Like I said, this just isn't something that is ever going to be relevant to most of us in the real world.
