Man, Flinger, quick with the Bible verses. Must have forgotten the ones that discuss turning the other cheek, LOL.

Thanks Justin!

How do you stop the bad guy intent on doing you harm?

That's a loaded question (pardon the pun). Of course you do whatever you can. But the other side of the question is, how likely is that to happen and how likely is it that you'll be able to stop him? First of all, for those outside high crime areas, the chances of coming up against that situation are very small. Second, the chances of being able to get the gun out, shoot it accurately, and just be in a situation where you'll be able to do it are also pretty slim. Two unlikely things, one multiplying the other. Which is why I don't carry. I have no problem if you do as long as you're responsible about it. Only you can decide whether the real hassles and responsibilities of carrying are justified by the very slim chance that you'll need it and be able to use it effectively.

And by the way, if I had to live or work in a high crime area, I'd be carrying and I'd be spending a lot of time making sure I could shoot accurately under lots of different situations. I love shooting handguns, anyway.

Al...loaded question or not. The simple fact is you never know. High crime...no crime...back ally at midnight...or noon at a family business....I don't try and predict the future.

"I come not to bring peace, but to bring a sword" (Gospel of Matthew 10:34)

"He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one." Luke 36

Do you need a permit to carry a sword? Not many people accidently killed by a sword, maybe that's the answer.

Didn't forget...know that one well. The harder one studies the bible the more contradictions one finds. The harder one tries to understand the bible the more truth he is lent.

Only if it's really sharp. There is a three day waiting period...followed by a class that cost $150 and a licensing fee of $65...then you have to remain certified in good standing for 3 years...then you can renew your license after being cleared by a panel of ninjas.

If you have not taken the course, how do you know what is in it?

You get a little on the maintence and how the clean your gun. A few minutes on the proper way to handle your piece. A little on mechanics and what the parts are called. You get a look at concealed carry legislation and limitations. Most time is spent on liability issues. They touch on home defense methods and how to talk your way out of trouble.

Break for lunch.

Spend the next four hours of your eight at the range shooting your 150 rounds.

Did I ever say I have never been??? I can't recall.

The idea of self protection starts with your brain. First, you have to realize, no matter how safe you feel, there may be some a hole come along and ruin it. It can happen in your bedroom, your favorite fishing hole, getting out of your car. The simple fact is, there are persons that are out there that will do you harm with no personal vendetta against you. You may be a innocent bystander, or you may be a target because you have something that someone else wants.

A gun is a great responsibility, it is deadly force, you will have to use your brain to make a decision to end another life. A knife, pepper spray, squealing like a little girl may make a difference. But if an armed criminal wants to do me harm, I want equal force or superior force. I want to prevent someone else from doing me harm, end of story. It is that simple, cut and dry.

So do you have a problem with Constitutional Carry?

I guess my point, guys, is that even though I'm theoretically a lot more likely to be run over by a drunk driver, I don't drive a tank to prevent it. To me, the slight possibility of needing the firearm is just one of the risks of life in America, not likely enough to bother going through all the hoops of carrying. I can't predict the future but I can play the percentages.
