Greasy B Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I like to be stylish, what can I say. I like your style. There are some that advocate blending in with you surroundings by wearing dull earth tones or even camo. Me, I would rather be the polar opposite as camo. If that cost me a fish or two so be it. Greasy B Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Does anyone else have superstitions like that? Your darn right. My one concession to camo wear is my favorite hat. I got it from the Cooking from Scratch restaurant in Dolittle. I like it better than any of my Filson or Columbia hats and it has brought me plenty of luck. My only complaint is that a can't get it in a bright lime green or some other outrageous color. Mitch f Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I've noticed over the years that man is destined to believe in something, call it mojo, superstition, God or something...must be in the DNA "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Football Head Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 If wearing a certain outfit, shirt, hat, etc..... helps a guy catch more fish, then he better be wearing it. Whatever it takes to put more in the boat. I certainly have a few superstitons I believe help me when I'm on the water.
Flysmallie Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I don't know why...but one of my superstitions involves the clothing I wear when fishing. That particular shirt and hat has some seriously good mojo when floating. I was wearing that when I caught my personal best in Indiana, as well as a couple of great floats this year in MO. Does anyone else have superstitions like that? I used to always wear a black Motorguide hat. Went through several of them and they had all turned brown before it was over.
Football Head Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I always wear a hat I bought at Latourells Outfitters in Ely, MN. If anybody is looking for a great place to take a trip and catch a bunch of quality smallies you need to check Latourells out.
msamatt Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I don't really have any clothin superstitions though I try to dress as comfortably as possible and tend to wear swimming trunks, including black and white hawaiian print ones, because I like to go for a swim to cool down when I get too hot and to fully enjoy the whole river experience. Though I will add that I always try to remember to pack a pair of pants after I had to climb up and down through a downright prehistoric growth of poison ivy this summer in order to take out at the end of a trip on the Big River. I do firmly believe that fishing always gets better after lunch (for me anyway and this doesn't mean I start eating lunch at 6 am ) I don't keep a log with details about exactly how many fish i catch pre and post lunch but it's almost always the case.
