Members Nightbrew Posted September 6, 2012 Members Posted September 6, 2012 Hey guys, I was thinking of floating down from baptist camp this weekend. Is this wise? I have done this before and did some dragging but I cant recall just what the water level was. Any input will be appreciated, thanks Matt
awhuber Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 We have Floated from baptist to Parker 3 times in the last 2 weeks. The rain lst week bumped it up a hair. We were day floating , so were kinda light. You will have to get out in a few spots. The fishing has been good to excellent, using jigs in white, black and gold. It takes me around 6-7 hrs to float/fish the 5.2 miles. Well I just noticed that this big piney forum...so never mind...
Greasy B Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Hey guys, I was thinking of floating down from baptist camp this weekend. Is this wise? Any input will be appreciated, thanks Matt It has been many years for me but I don't think you would find much more than a trickle of water this time of year. You'll probably do an awful lot of dragging. Most years April or May would have the best water. Dog Bluff HWY 17 would be as far upstream as I would go. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
KCRIVERRAT Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I'd stick with Slabtown down to Ross. Besides, you're in the trophy area. Boiling Spring to Mason Bridge should be fine up river, but personally I've never cared too much for the Mason to Slabtown float. Floated Dogs Bluff to Mineral Springs last June in my canoe with a buddy of mine in back along with another friend who was solo. It's a great float, but I'd hold off until there's more rain. Baptist down has got to be low now. Issac didn't do much down that way. Hope some of the local guys chime in for ya. As for me, I'm heading to the Jacks Fork saturday morning! Members Nightbrew Posted September 7, 2012 Author Members Posted September 7, 2012 Riverrat, I have been interested in fishing the upper portion of the Jacks Fork. Im thinking above Alley Springs, is the fishing pretty good up there?
joeD Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Oh man. Here I was ready to input beta on the Big Piney, and the cursor has already moved to the Jack's Fork. 2012 life moves fast.
Gavin Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 The Jack's can be good...its 1>18" limit smallmouth water between Buck Hollow and Alley Spring so there are fish there...The problem now is low flow...48cfs at Alley..you will drag allot at the present level.
